How would you describe your area of ministry…..
I believe as the Senior Pastor my primary job function is to feed the sheep. The cliff note version would read: make disciples that make disciples. This role includes preaching, encouraging, motivating, and just loving on the people (and potential persons) of this great congregation. Leadership and administration are also part of this role. High points of my duties include weddings, baptisms, and celebrations of life (funerals). A pastor often wears many hats but none more visible than having a positive, compassionate, and Spirit-led demeanor with friend and stranger, whether they are new to our Faith (seeker) and/or those fully seasoned (saints). I have found my life’s calling and must acknowledge how blessed I am to daily do the very things I love while making a living. More importantly, with God’s help, I partner to make a difference in the lives of others.
How long have you serve with us at THUMC?
I became part of the THUMC family in July of 2010. The resident Bishop and District Superintendent asked me to consider serving here. I gladly accepted. Previously, I served a great congregation in Lake City, Florida for 10 years. This is my second, full-time appointment as an ordained Elder of the Florida Conference. I look forward to many years together.
Tell us about yourself……
This beautiful area of Florida is home for me. My formative years were spent in the town of Chattahoochee ( 35 miles due west) . I am the second of four children to Charles and Sue Hamilton. I attended Troy University with an undergraduate degree in Bus. Admin. and Marketing. Soon after college I married my bride of 25 years, Mary Lynn McCall. We have been blessed with 2 healthy sons who are currently attending college in Tallahassee and also working at local restaurants. After 16 years in the Retail management field , I answered the full-time call to ministry and attended Emory University in Atlanta to obtain my master’s degree. Returning to the Florida conference after graduation in 2000, I am excited to be a part of this congregation and ministry.
